Project for Awesome 2009 'Pennies for Peace'
Join the awesome that is Project for Awesome 2009
My Project for Awesome video this year highlights "Pennies for Peace" a program within the Non-profit Central Asia Institute-organization, co-founded by Greg Mortenson. Greg wanted to honor his late sister by climbing K2. The expedition failed and he got lost in the mountains. In the remote village of Korphe in rural Pakistan, he was greeted and healed and he promised to raise money to build a school for them.
The story of his endeavor can be explored in the two books he's written and by visiting this URL for more information.

Greg's two books

'Stones into schools'

I had the pleasure of meeting Greg at two occasions on the second memorial of the tragedy at Virginia tech in april this year. He came to talk to elementary school as well as the main campus auditorium in Blacksburg. His story and achievements are incredible, and well deserving the nomination for the Peace prize in Alfred Nobel's honor.
