This is a silly story actually. It's maybe an isolated incident that some perv IT administrator was in wrond doing. I doubt the principle was involved in this. But I know this school very well. Was a rival school.

This is a very important story. I fully support this family in getting to the bottom of this and having these cameras taken out. Do these computers also have microphones? People who do not wish to be spied on may cover the camera, but in some computers, the microphone is still activated. Please keep us informed on this story. Hope the family takes it all the way and wins. This is wrong. If the software is meant for security, No one but only the IT staff should have the power to control that feature. And even the IT staff should make sure that the parents and students KNOW that there's a program to mirror the desktop of the machine at any location from a host location. This is the IT employees fault, the administrators fault. The parents and students are not educated enough to realize how powerful this tools is.

All we did was activate a webcam on a school issued laptop while it was in in the privacy and sanctity of a students own home, without his knowledge or consent nor the consent of his parents. We took a snapshot and confronted the student with it to prove he was engaged in inappropriate behavior. How were we supposed to know what he kept putting in his mouth was candy and not drugs. If I were those kids, I would post every single bit of information available, about every employee of the school, and post it everywhere possible online. See how they like it. Snap bad pictures of them-candid shots- when they aren't looking. See who goes in and out of their houses. Click. Get them leaving a bar, and accuse them of being inappropriate. Snap.
