note: recently, atheist billboards have been vandalized (one sign that read "one nation, indivisible" had "under god" spray painted under the phrase). these people really fail to realize what "one nation, indivisible (under god or not)" means...they use it as a tool to divide us, which is DEFEATING THE POINT, ASSHATS.
as for this video, repeating mindless bullshit for the sake of making people feel 'patriotic' is bullshit...plain and simple. take prayers for example...repeating a prayer amongst a group of people shouldn't make you feel righteous.

I just got done with my junior year of high school. I seldom recite the pledge of allegiance, and I absolutely never include "under God". My entire school career I felt that reciting some fucking oath to a flag was unnecessary; it always made me feel like they were drilling some philosophy into our head or some shit. So that after years of repitition, students would start to think, "Oh, yes. This nation is under God." instantly, when it truly...just isn't.

I dunno. To me, I don't need to express my patriotism (which I have next to nothing left of; I'm getting rather sick of this country of over-confident morons) by reciting a poem every day of my life.
Oh, and get this shit: in my high school, in order for a student to withdraw him or herself from pledging everyday, he/she has to have the written consent of a guardian to not partake in it. They call us "young adults" and can't even let us make a decision expressing true freedom by ourselves.

@TKOblue Yeah that's the part that's never mentioned in any of these arguments...reciting a "pledge of allegiance" sounds exactly like something they would force upon students in China or North Korea or some other country utterly lacking in civil rights for all. Meanwhile here in the "land of the free" we were made to recite this pledge at the beginning of every school day. But that part of it gets lost in all the "under God" hoopla.

@mrpink99: Hear, hear. However, as I AM given a choice. But, in order to choose NOT to recite the pledge of allegiance, I actually need a permission slip.
When I was told that, I literally said "Fuck it", and went on not pledging. I can tell people might get offended that I don't do that, because they'll think I don't appeciate the freedoms I have. Meanwhile, I'm excercising these freedoms by choosing NOT to "pledge" that this country is ruled by a false god.

Or is it just this guy expressing his point of view. Think about it. Yes he may wish to spark debate over what he thinks. But he is only expressing his views here. Which would allow for proper use of cursing and vulgarity as well as anger. Its an emotional expression as far as I can tell.
