Republic vs Democracy

Our system of government was never intended to be a democracy. Although many believe that we live in one, they have never been asked to vote on the decisions made by said government. Yet they believe that they are empowered just the same. We are not.

@TheBlackSkipper the laws have to go through the filter of the constitution. and they must be voted on unanimously. a lot of bs laws would never see the light of day. honestly, not sure where you live but do you feel FREE? maybe what you are advocating is a democratic republic....i watch this video and i look at the usa and what he is describing is happening right now in america. the executive orders taking away freedoms, the economy about to tank...its scary...

@markuskentwood You really think that the government is looking our for our safety? . This is the equivalent of them handing you a cow patty and then calling it prime rib as they serve it to you. One so blindly and with such inept critical thinking skills, will accept the cow patty, pay the price of a five star meal, and say thank you. Look around and question things that don't make sense. There has been a VERY cleaver and successful intent to control ones' perception of reality.

@StrangeIsMyWorld Now your getting it. ;) The very essence of Capitalism is a for profit system. In order for that system to survive, scarcity and inefficiency must be created causing unnecessary loss and suffering. We are not limited to these systems that obviously do not serve us or the planet. Expand the mind. Imagine the sole intent to be for all, rather than self. When everyone carries that agenda, there is no need for fear or government.

neat video. but in fact it contains various historical errors.
hitler didn't get power by anarchy. he used flaws in the system of the existing republic to empower himself. in the end he was voted by like 41% of all germans, using the flaws he was able to make himself to the president of everything. first the people accepted it since they didn't know what it would lead to. and after they realized what goals he really had it was to late, you only could choose between go with the flow or die.

Socialism and Communism are two very distinct ideologies - socialism has the most government while Communism has NO government. We just get confused by the affiliation of communism with the USSR, when they really never reached that stage.
Secondly, monarchy or autocracies can be run by a single dominating figure, even if he is ADVISED by those who surround him. Think about Stalin's dictatorship - he excercised total control, his advisors were yes men, mere administrators of his decrees.

I don't understand people's shouts for "real democracy" nowadays.
Democracy is the rule of the majority over the minority, for it does not protect the individual's rights. Whereas in a republic you have a constitution which is guaranteeing your rights.
People should rather check the definition of "democracy" and "republic", so they know in which state they really want to live in.

i'm sorry to say this, but this doesnt explain anything. The LAW among other things grants special power to individuals:legislative,executive and judiciary.
1.If those powers are concentrated in one hand u get either monarchy or dictactorship
2.If those powers are in the hands of few u get oligarchy
3.If those powers are in the hands of majority u get democracy
4.if there is no enforcement of law by goverment u get anarchy
The Roman REPUBLIC was an oligarchy ruled by the patricians.
