I love this, but agree that some of these images of African Americans are a little disturbing today. Still, a look at this style of animation in the seventies, (something that grew out of Underground Comix and R. Crumb) the idea was to defuse every stereotype by owning it ourselves, much the way Lenny Bruce did with language, and later urban street culture did using the n word. For what it's worth---this is still a work of genius.
