Lyrics:
[Robert Zubrin]
Mars is the next logical step
In our space program
It's the challenge that's been staring us in the face
For the past 30 years
It has water, it has carbon,
It has a 24 hour day
It has geothermal energy
Mars is a place we can settle
[Carl Sagan]
There is a giant rift in its surface
5,000 kilometers long
There is a volcano as wide as Arizona
[Zubrin]
So there's the choice in life
One either grows or one decays
Grow or die
I think we should grow
[Sagan]
Mars is a world of wonders
[Brian Cox]
It has canyons, river valleys,
and giant ice sheets
[Sagan]
Mars is a world of wonders
[Zubrin]
It shouldn't be humans to Mars in 50 years
It should be humans to Mars in 10
We either muster the courage to go
Or we risk the possibility of stagnation and decay
We've got cosmic radiation
Zero gravity
Martian dust storms
Back contamination
But these are dragons that we can take on
[Sagan]
In our time we have sifted
The sands of Mars
Established a presence there
And fulfilled a century of dreams
[Cox]
The Mars rovers have really
Captured our imaginations
They genuinely are explorers
In the old-fashioned sense
[Zubrin]
If you put out a call
For volunteers for the first crew to Mars
They'd be lined up coast to coast
(refrain)
[Cox]
Mars is a dry frozen version of our home
Covered in red dust and sand
[Penelope Boston]
At one time
In the ancient past
Mars was very similar
To the conditions of early earth
[Zubrin]
There will always be people with new ideas
On how humans should live together
[Cox]
We now have "eyes" and "ears" on the surface
[Zubrin]
What's left after you go is
The good you've left behind
You have to believe in hope
You have to believe in the future
There are more and more people coming around to the point of view that
A positive future for humanity requires human expansion to space
(refrain)
We're at a crossroads today
We either muster the courage to go
Or we risk the possibility of stagnation and decay

We will never colonize/terraform mars the lower gravity will make you lose bone density and your muscles will atrophy. Let's fix the shit here and make a last stand against all of the problems we have created for ourselves. Why flee from the sinking ship when you could stop it here on our planet. Actually if we don't stop it here it's gonna be over for us... =(

@Wardain83 We can deal with the lower gravity. Also you have the wrong idea; we most of use that suport going to Mars aren't thinking about abandoning ship fpr another. We are thinking fix our ship and the other ship(Mars) and using what we learn from it and other things that come from it to better fix our ship.

@Wardain83
Losing bone density isn't really that much of a bad thing I'd guess, unless you're going to travel back and forth between Mars and Earth.

@Wardain83 Mars has one third G, which is survivable. Colonists would just need to exercise regularly on the planet and take supplements...like all astronauts do. Stop being a pessimist and think about humanity becoming a spacefaring civilization

@overusedoxymoron2003 Children can't be born on mars the lower G probably will kill them in the womb. Kids growing up would be like 9 feet tall with bones breaking all the time and of course they couldn't come back to earth considering their hearts are weak and never fully developed. If we fuck up the planet to the extent in which it's no longer habitable it's over for us. Research and space exploration are great but this colonization shit isn't going to work like you think

@Wardain83 You have the right idea, but, for the human body to change that much would take a long, long time. Eventually, though, the human body would adapt to the planet it's living on.

@Wardain83 "If we fuck up the planet to the extent in which it's no longer habitable it's over for us."
Admitting and realizing that that is true depresses me greatly... Since we are so close to fucking it up. Billions of bigots ignorant of the most basic scientific achievements.

@catscatscatz We are putting money into it, you really have no idea what you're talking about. We MAYBE COULD PULL IT OFF. But it would be potentially a failed attempt. We want our first trip to Mars to be absolutely perfect and purposeful. We aren't 100% confident that we know what we're doing, and we're going to wait until we are. Sure, sucks for you and me, but it's better for the human race. There's no rush. We may want our first trip to Mars to be one-way. We might want to begin colonizing
